PURPOSE: A heading-up service providing method for a vehicle navigation system is provided to carry out the processing of the heading-up function only when a change in the current vehicle speed or the heading-up information change value is higher than a predetermined level, thereby utilizing the heading-up function commonly even in a navigation system of which data processing speed is low. CONSTITUTION: A heading-up service providing method for a vehicle navigation system includes the steps of storing vehicle information received from a GPS(Global Positioning System) satellite to a predetermined memory as a position checking request is received by a driver(ST1,ST2), determining whether a current vehicle speed is higher than a predetermined level among the stored vehicle information(ST3), determining whether a difference between previous and current heading-up information is higher than a predetermined level if yes(ST4), searching a current position in a predetermined range of a map on the basis of the stored current position information if yes(ST5,ST6), searching road information expected to be advanced on the basis of the vehicle heading-up information in the searched map(ST7), setting a position nearest to the current position as central coordinates among crossing points between the searched road information and an extension line of the current position information(ST8), computing rotation information of the map on the basis of the current heading-up information(ST9), and setting the set central coordinates as the center of the map and displaying the searched map information after rotating the map correspondingly to the computed map rotation information(ST10).
