PURPOSE: A PID(process identity number) comparator of an MPEG(moving picture expert group)2 system and a comparing method thereof are provided to store many PIDs in a small register region by comparing the 13-bit ID of each packet after dividing it to former 10 bits and the latter 3 bits. CONSTITUTION: A first PID register(300) stores a 9-bit first PID. A second PID register(400) stores a 16-bit second PID. A first PID comparator(100) receives the latter 8 bits as a first current PID and reads the corresponding PID value of the first PID register(300). When a first PID matching signal is generated from the first PID comparator(100), a second PID matching bit examiner(200) reads a second PID corresponding to the address and examines bit value of the former 4 bits of the current PID and outputs a second PID matching signal. |
