PURPOSE: A RAID(redundant array of inexpensive disks) controller is provided to operate a plurality of storing devices stably by sensing a power source and an operation status, thereby transmitting the result to a host system. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of switching processing units control a connection relation between a plurality of storing units(HDD#1, HDD#2, HDD#3, HDD#4, HDD#5, HDD#6)(31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36) for recognizing the storing units(31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36) by one or a plurality of disks in accordance with disk information selected in a RAID in a RAID system. A plurality of power supplying units(218, 219, 220, 221, 222, 223) control for supplying independent power source to the storing units(31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36) by responding to the storing units(31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36) one by one. An automatic power source control unit(300) senses a total operation status and environment of a RAID controller and outputs a control signal to the supplying units(218, 219, 220, 221, 222, 223) and the switching processing units.
