PURPOSE: A method for managing an MSC(Mobile Switching Center) in an HLR(Home Location Register) of a mobile communication system is provided to additionally include a table for managing an MSCID(Mobile Switching Center ID) in the HLR, and to discriminate a process and layer processing the table. CONSTITUTION: An MSCID(Mobile Switching Center ID) process classifies MSC-related messages inputted from an OMP(Operation and Maintenance Process) into addition, change, deletion, and output of information for a predetermined MSC. Whether a corresponding MSC ID exists in an MSC information table for each message is decided. If so, requested functions are performed. If a corresponding MSC ID does not exist in the MSC information table, an error code is transmitted to the OMP and the steps are ended.
