<p>Distillation process for separating materials is carried out with a primary distillation column and at least one connected subsidiary column, each column having separate reboiler elements, while at least a part of the bottom stream from the primary distillation column is supplied to at least one reboiler element for a subsidiary column in a sufficient amount to act as primary heat source. The process is especially suitable to use in the separation of hydrocarbons, such as naphtha fractions. The process enables subsidiary distillation columns to be operated with heat provided with the bottom stream from the first column. This enables economies to be made in steam costs. Capital requirements for the distillation plant are also reduced.</p> |
