APPARATUS FOR PREVENTING INDOOR HEAT EXCHANGER OF AIR CONDITIONER FROM FREEZING

PURPOSE: A preventing device of a frozen indoor heat exchanger is provided to prevent an indoor heat exchanger from freezing by using high-temperature liquid refrigerant of an outdoor heat exchanger without turning on/off a compressor and to inhibit power consumption by removing a rising instantaneous electric current in turning on/off of the compressor. CONSTITUTION: A preventing device of a frozen indoor heat exchanger consists of: a bypass line(6) connected between an outlet of an outdoor heat exchanger(2) and an inlet of an indoor heat exchanger(4) without passing through a capillary tube(3); a valve(7) mounted on the bypass line; a temperature sensor(5) for sensing temperature of the indoor heat exchanger; and an outdoor control unit(8) for controlling the opening/closing of the valve depending on signals of the temperature sensor. If indoor temperature is very low or an indoor air suction port of a fan is isolated, the indoor heat exchanger is frozen. The temperature sensor decides the frozen indoor heat exchanger if temperature of the indoor heat exchanger is kept lower than 2 deg.C for over 3min. The temperature signal is transmitted to the outdoor control unit. The outdoor control unit opens the bypass line through the solenoid valve and supplies high-temperature liquid refrigerant to the indoor heat exchanger from the outdoor heat exchanger. Therefore, the indoor heat exchanger is prevented from freezing.
