PURPOSE: A gas ballast valve is provided to adjust the proper amount of air as well as to promote simple operation of a valve mechanism. CONSTITUTION: A gas ballast valve(15) includes: an adjustable grip(16) having multi-stage rotatable positions including at least 0 and first stage; a valve seat plate(19) interlocking with rotation of the adjustable grip; a valve seat face always in close contact with the valve seat plate, having a gas path space communicated with or isolated from outside depending on rotation of the adjustable grip; at least one and more holes(21,22) isolated by the valve seat face at the 0 stage of the adjustable grip and communicated selectively to the gas path space at the first, second or higher stage; and a gas pipe(24) communicating the gas path space with a cylinder(7) having a rotating rotor(5). When the gas ballast valve is opened, gas is supplied to the cylinder through the gas pipe. Oil is compressed by vanes(6) in the rotor. To prevent the oil from being leaked through the gas pipe, check valves(27,28) are mounted in the middle of the gas pipe between the gas ballast valve and the second cylinder. Therefore the oil does not flow back.
