<p>The wet back tile is inserted between the rear end wall of the trough containing the metal bath and the floating pool of molten glass, in such a manner that its front side is in wetting contact with the heel of the pool of molten glass. Wet back tiles of different width may be launched and adjusted to different conditions of operation. The glass contacting surface of the tile is coated with a material non-adherent to the glass, preferably carbon or graphite. An upper part of refractory material and a lower part of carbonaceous material may be connected by dove-tailing.</p> |
