摘要 PURPOSE: A horizontal resonance surface discharging type semiconductor laser using an electrooptic effect is provided to obtain stable output polarization by applying a voltage to a part of a resonator mirror, and effectively control a direction of the output polarization by changing the direction of the applied voltage. CONSTITUTION: The horizontal resonance surface discharging type semiconductor laser includes a compound semiconductor substrate(9). The first resonance mirror(3) is formed on the compound semiconductor substrate(9). The first clad layer is formed on the first resonance mirror(3). A gain medium layer(2) is formed on the first clad layer. The second clad layer is formed on the gain medium layer(2). A resistance material layer(7) is formed on the second clad layer. The second resonance mirror(1) is formed on the resistance material layer(7). An electrode(5) guide the electrooptic effect by closing to the second resonance mirror(1).
