MPOA-BASED ROUTER SYSTEM AND FRAME RELAY SERVICE INTERWORKING METHOD USING THEREOF

PURPOSE: An MPOA(Multi Protocol Over ATM)-based router system and a frame relay service interworking method using thereof are provided to install an access interworking block in a frame relay interface part for the interworking between an MPOA-based router and a frame relay network and to convert an RFC1490 capsulized data frame into a LAN emulation data frame at the access interworking block. CONSTITUTION: An MPOA router system consists of a frame relay interface part(320), an ATM interface part, a switching fabric, and a routing processor part(330). The frame relay interface part(320) to interwork a frame relay network(310) contains an access interworking module(321). The access interworking module(321) receives a capsulized RFC1490 frame from the frame relay network(310), converts it into a LAN emulation frame, and transmits the converted frame to the routing processor part(330). Also the access interworking module(321) converts the LAN emulation frame received through an ATM network(340) into an RFC1490 frame and transmits it to the frame relay network(310). The switching fabric executes a cell switching function. The routing processor part(330) executing a routing function with each network contains a routing processing module(331). The routing processing module(331) receives the LAN emulation frame from the access interworking module(321) and transmits it to the ATM network(340) after the execution of routing processing. Also the routing processing module(331) receives ATM cells from the ATM network(340), executes routing processing for them, and transmits them to the access interworking module(321).
