PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve data compression ratio in the case of predictive-coding of voice signals. SOLUTION: A five-channel correlation circuit 1 converts five channel signals (L, C, R, SL, SR) into correlated five channel signals L, D1-D4, and predicting circuits 15L, 15D1-15D4 calculate plural predicted values for each of the five channel signals L, D1-D4 and calculate each prediction residuals of these plural predicted values, and buffer selectors 16L, 16D1-16D4 select the minimum value from among these plural prediction residuals. |
