PURPOSE: A flaw detecting apparatus of sheet shape is provided to improve accuracy of flaw detection and to confirm position of flaw easily by using a simple electro field generator and electric field intensity sensing part. CONSTITUTION: An electric field generator(33) generates an electric field of a designated intensity depending on license of power. An electric field intensity sensing part(34) is arranged to be opposite against the electric field generator(33) each other leaving a sheet shape body(31) supplied by a supply roller(32) between those. A microprocessor(35) judges whether a flaw exists or not according to the electric field intensity sensed at the electric field intensity sensing part(34) and at the same time operates position information of the flaw using rotating power of the supply roller(32) if the flaw exists. A display part(37) indicates and announces existence and position information of the flaw to user according to the result of judgement of the microprocessor(35).
