PURPOSE: A device for replacing tools in an armless type is provided to embed an additional safety apparatus while being separated from outside for improving reliability on operation and productivity. CONSTITUTION: A pinion(23) engaged with a driving instrument is rotated for selecting a tool(30). Then, the tool is stopped at a standby location for being transferred to a main shaft. Then, a piston rod(13a) of a cylinder(13) fixed at an automatic tool center base(10). Then, a combining terminal(14b) fixed at the piston rod, and a guider(14a) slid on a guide bar(11) on the automatic tool center base are horizontally moved. Thus, a shaft fixing plate(14) and a magazine plate(18) are horizontally transferred. The tool on a gripper(18b) of the magazine plate is located at a location to be clamped, and the piston rod is stopped. Thus, the tool is clamped by the main shaft for returning the magazine plate by returning force of the piston rod.
