PURPOSE: Provided are novel pigment dispersants and pigment preparations having improved coloristic and rheological properties and their preparation and use for pigmenting high molecular mass materials. CONSTITUTION: The novel pigment dispersants are represented by the formula(1) in which Q is a radical of the formula(1a) s is a number from 0.1 to 4.0 and n is a number from 0 to 2.0; and the pigment preparations comprise an organic base pigment and a pigment dispersant of the formula(1).
