PURPOSE: A circuit for controlling voltage is provided to generate the control signal in reaching the wanted voltage and to reduce the consumption of the electrical current by increasing the period of operation of a charge pump by the control signal. CONSTITUTION: The circuit for controlling voltage includes a charge pump portion(70), a control portion(100) and an oscillating portion(50). The charge pump portion(70) is enabled according to the program signal(PGM) input from the outside and is composed of the first and second charge pumps(71,72). The control portion(100) compares the high voltage generated in the charge pump portion(70) with the reference voltage and controls the period of the signal output in the oscillator(50). The oscillating portion(50) generates the signal driving the charge pump portion(70) according to the signal input from outside and the signal(HVPP) output in the control portion(100).
