METHOD FOR FORMING MULTI-DOMAIN IN LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY

PURPOSE: A method for forming a multi-domain in a liquid crystal display is to form a dual domain in an alignment film using a single rubbing process, thereby simplifying the rubbing process and decreasing the production costs. CONSTITUTION: The first and second alignment films(11,12a) having different alignment directions are formed in the order named on a lower substrate. The second alignment film is patterned such that a predetermined portion of the first alignment film is exposed. The exposed portion of the first alignment film and the second alignment film are concurrently rubbed to form a dual domain. The first alignment film is aligned parallel to a rubbing direction and the second alignment film is aligned perpendicular to the rubbing direction. The first alignment film is made of polyimide-based alignment film.
