PURPOSE: To provide a structure which increases the degree of freedom of design and not only increases the display area on a liquid crystal device but also miniaturize the device by adopting a structure of a vertical conduction part with which the peripheral part of a display area can be narrowed without being affected by the patterning precision of an alignment layer. CONSTITUTION: When transparent substrates 110 and 120 are press-fixed to each other with a sealant 130 between them, conductive particles 132 formed rather larger break through relatively soft alignment layers 113 and 123 and come into contact with both an inner end part 11c and an outer end part 121c, and the sealant 130 is hardened in this state.
