摘要 PURPOSE: A device for driving AC(alternating current) plasma display panel is provided to maintain natural screen image without sudden change of screen brightness by converting signal in advance in automatic gain control unit. CONSTITUTION: A Y/C separation circuit unit(101) separates brightness and color of an inputted video signal. An RGB(red, green, blue) separation circuit unit(103) separates the inputted video signal into R, G, B analog signal each corresponding to red, green and blue. A gain control unit(104) controls gain of the R, G, B analog signal in response to control signal. An analog-digital conversion unit(105) converts the R, G, B analog signal into R, G, B digital signal. An average luminance detection unit(111) detects average luminance and outputs data signal corresponding to the average luminance. The average luminance detection unit(111) outputs the control signal into the gain control unit(104) to reduce the R, G, B analog signal level in the gain control unit(104) if the average luminance is above an appointed level. An RGB data processing unit(113) controls a data electrode driving circuit unit(121) according to the data signal from the average luminance detection unit(111).
