PURPOSE: A synchronous counter is provided to allow to optimize an internal algorithm by controlling the number of counts by an user. CONSTITUTION: In a synchronous counter, a data input part supplies an user input signal according to a set signal. A flipflop latches the user input signal input through the data input part to output the first and second counting signals. The flipflop re-outputs the first and second counting signals using the first signal according to a clock signal. A plurality of counting blocks consist of a control part for outputting the third control signal to which a logic combination of the first control signal and the second control signal is performed. The second counting signal from the first terminal of the counting block is used as the first control signal from the first terminal of the counting block. The second control signal is the signal to which the first counting signal of the next terminal is feedbacked. The first control signal of the counting block excluded in the first terminal is the third control signal from the previous terminal.
