PURPOSE: A tension adjustor for a belt is provided to automatically adjust the tension of a belt without moving the position of a motor and a drive body as well as to adjust the tension of the belt promptly. CONSTITUTION: A base plate(34) installed on both sides of a belt(1) integrally and vertically. Two movable bars(42a,42b) are connected to be rotatable on both sides of a transfer path. On side portions of the movable bars, one end and the other end of a coil spring(50) are alternatively fixed. Four rotatable rolls(40) are attached to push on a face(1a) of the belt by the widening force of the movable bars due to spring(50). The belt is pressed with a specific force and driven to be prevented with becoming loose according to the tensional state of the belt. Thus, the tension of the belt is automatically adjusted. A limit switch(70) is connected with a trail ring(60) of the movable bar(42a). If the belt is cut off, the movable bars are rapidly raised by the spring. Therefore, the limit switch is operated by the trail ring and the drive motor is stopped promptly.
