PURPOSE: A VXI meter control method is provided to design a control algorithm making application programs, offered by the meter maker, interoperable and support script type help messages on the application message so that it enables the user to easily use the meter. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises steps of modifying measurement screens and editing the measurement screens(116-130), setting conditions of a connection between a meter and a personal computer(132-144), registering a program, edited in the screen modification and edition steps, at meter control elements, and displaying the edited screen in the case that a user selects the meter. In the connection condition setting step(132-144), it is checked that a specific communication protocol can be applied between the meter and the personal computer. If the specific communication protocol can not be installed, a help message on a protocol install step is informed. The connection condition setting step(132-144) includes transmitting step type instructions to the meter and managing the instructions according to the sorts of the meter.
