摘要 PURPOSE: An automatic restoration method in preparations for a damage of a system function set information stored in a flash memory in Ethernet switch equipment is provided to heighten a reliability of a system operation and ensure a stable operation of the system by having a dual sector for storing function set information in a flesh memory and maintaining the lately stored system function set information even if a power failure abruptly occurs. CONSTITUTION: A controller reads out information stored in a system function set storing sector of a flash memory(30). The controller determines whether the system function set information has been damaged(32). If the system function set information has been damaged, the controller reads information stored in a backup sector(34). The controller determines whether the information read from the backup sector has been damaged(36) on the basis of two pieces of information of a verification on a magic word and a verification on a checksum. If the magic word value of the existing sector and the backup sector is not identical to a defined value, the controller determines that no information has been stored in the backup sector and stores the basic values(39). If the system function set information has not been damaged, the controller restores the system function set information and initiates driving of the system(38). If the backup sector is normal, the controller uses the information stored in the backup sector as a function set information and duplicates the information of the backup sector for the existing sector.
