PURPOSE: A gas lifter prevents early damping on opening of a tail gate or a trunk gate to prevent a door from suddenly getting up speed and then stopping. CONSTITUTION: A lifter comprises a cylinder(20) and an operating rod(30). The cylinder(20) is packed with nitrogen gas and oil and has a sealing member and a stopper(24). The operating rod(30) has a piston(32) moving by the inner wall of the cylinder(20) formed on one end thereof and a connecting end connected with a tail gate or a trunk lid formed on the other end thereof. A sponge(40), a foaming pad absorbing oil is installed under a stopper(24). The piston(32) presses the sponge(40) so that oil having been absorbed in the sponge(40) is discharged through an orifice hole(34) to damp just before the tail gate or the trunk lid completely opened even after the oil is discharged through the orifice hole(34).
