PURPOSE: To provide an accurate and efficient gearless hoisting machine remotely controllable in consideration of the influence of different inertia for every unit, without using a braking torque adjusting weight. CONSTITUTION: Brake testing torque is computed from unbalanced torque and inertial torque, and a torque value applied to a hoisting motor is computed from the sum of them. An elevator cage is run at a low speed with the toque applied, and a braking operation is applied. The movement of the car is then measured, and braking torque is adjusted based on the result of the measurement.
