PURPOSE: A system and method for controlling a sludge level capable of effectively forming sludge cake by automatically maintaining a sludge level in a drum tank are provided. Therefore, the system is easy to maintain and repair and ensures simple and trouble-free operation. CONSTITUTION: The system for controlling a sludge level comprises: a sludge discharge valve(2) installed on a sludge feed line from a sludge storage tank(1) to a drum tank(10); a water volume control valve(16) for controlling the amount of water to be mixed for diluting the concentration of sludge passed through the sludge discharge valve; a sensor(15) for measuring a sludge level in the drum tank; a sensor(17) for measuring the temperature of the sludge feed line from the sludge storage tank to the drum tank; and a control part(16) for controlling the sludge discharge valve and water volume control valve.
