PURPOSE: A testing method for the cleanliness of an automatic transmission is provided to check the distribution and the ingredient of impurities by analyzing the size, the number per size and the ingredient of the impurities. CONSTITUTION: A cleanliness testing method for an automatic transmission contains a step sampling and analyzing the automatic transmission per component; a step cleansing the components; a step filtering cleansing solution through specific filters(21); a step removing oil from the filter using specific solution; a step measuring the actual weight of the impurities from the filter; and a step analyzing the image of the impurities by a CCD(charge coupled device) camera(50), an image transmitting device(51) and a display device(52). The image analyzing step additionally contains a step obtaining the image of the impurities; a step editing and measuring the image and analyzing the change of color; and a step analyzing the particle size of the impurities.
