PURPOSE: An automatic door for a lathe of a machine tool is provided to forcibly stop the automatic door according to speed of the doors over an established speed caused by wrong operation of a cylinder. CONSTITUTION: By turning on an interlock switch, a first solenoid valve(13) is operated according to a programmed sequence. Then, an air cylinder(14) is operated for automatically opening and closing an automatic door. A door closure sensor(11) is turned on at a closed state of the door for outputting closed state of the door. A door open sensor(12) is turned on at an opened state of the door for outputting opened state of the door. In case of off states of the closure sensor the open sensor, a controller analyzes output data from an emergency detect switch(30). In case of closing the door at a speed over an established speed, an emergency stop command is outputted. Then, a rod(22a) of a forcible stopping cylinder(22) is elevated by a second solenoid valve(21). Thus, the rod is engaged with a forcible stopping bracket(23) to stopping the automatic door.
