PURPOSE: A method for coating cooling fin for heat exchanger is provided to achieve improved heat exchange characteristics by forming water repellent layers and hydrophilic layers in an alternating manner onto the cooling fin. CONSTITUTION: A method comprises the steps of forming a water repellent layer(20) by coating a corrosion resistant material all over the external air contacting surface of a cooling fin(11); and forming a partial hydrophilic layer(30) by partially coating a hydrophilic material onto the water repellent layer. Thus, water repellent layers and hydrophilic layers are formed in an alternating manner onto the external air contacting surface of the cooling fin. The hydrophilic layer is shaped as a band having a predetermined width, and the water repellent layer has a width same as that of the hydrophilic layer. Since water repellent layers with superior heat transfer characteristics and hydrophilic layers with superior ventilation performance are formed in an alternating manner, overall heat exchanger characteristics are improved. When the condensate water droplet formed at the water repellent layer becomes larger, the adjacent hydrophilic layer draws and removes the condensate water droplet.
