PURPOSE: A direct injection engine is provided to improve the fuel ratio by uniformly mixing the fuel in the mixture and prevent environment pollution by controlling the outflow of the harmful substances. CONSTITUTION: A direct injection engine is composed of a cylinder head in which a direct port and helical port are formed, a cylinder block, and an oil fan containing the engine oil. The direct injection engine is arranged between the direct and the helical port. An injector is horizontally inclined toward the helical port and vertically downward inclined toward the piston head. A notch portion(42) provides the swirl flow in the fuel injected from the injector(30). A piston(36) has a bowl(40) containing first and second guide portions(44a,44b) for guiding the mixer toward the ignition plug.
