PURPOSE: A locking device for refrigerator is provided, in which stopper device is arranged to enter the divider wall, to thereby achieve improved user convenience by eliminating inconveniences caused due to the restriction of opening/closing action of refrigerator. CONSTITUTION: A refrigerator comprises a main body having a storage compartment; doors(140,150) hinge-coupled to the main body so as to open/close the storage compartment; a driving rod(530) operating by a locking device(510) installed to the door so as to lock the door; and a stopper device(560) installed to the main body, and which catches the driving rod; a driving motor(600) installed inside of the main body, and which moves the stopper device in forward and rearward directions, such that the stopper device is pressed in the main body; a power control unit for controlling the driving motor to generate a power in a direction and permit the stopper device to enter the main body when the door is open, and generate a power in the other direction and permit the stopper device to be escaped from the main body when the door is closed; and a power converting unit for converting the linear motion of the driving motor into a linear motion. The power converting unit includes a pinion(620) installed to the rotary shaft of the driving motor, and a rack(610) engaged with the pinion.
