PURPOSE: An open shortest path first interior gateway protocol(OSPF) route server is provided to facilitate management of a route table in case that an OSPF is adopted as an internal routing protocol in an IP network, and heighten a routing efficiency by intentionally intervening to a routing table generated by the OSPF. CONSTITUTION: In order to increase an availability of and OSPF route server, the second router server is constructed as a backup designated router of a backbone area by using a function of a back-up designating router defined in an OSPF routing protocol. Then, even if a route server serving as the first designated router is down, the operation is possibly performed without having a hindrance to a network operation. In order to implement an OSPF route server, an OSPF routing protocol needs to be implemented, which is possible by using a host computer having only one network connecting apparatus(interface). A link state database(LSDB) of the thusly implemented router exists in a file system and in a memory. And a user interface(304) which can be intervened by a manager, an interface driver(IFD)(303) for interfacing with an external device and an OSPF engine(302) are introduced to the database, to complete implementation of the OSPF router server.
