PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that a lens device us servo-driven at a point of time when a servo mode is returned after a manual operation is finished, and a lens position which is adjusted by the manual operation is shifted, if in the case where the servo-operation means is in an active state even after the mode has been switched to a manual mode. SOLUTION: As for the optical device capable of switching the servo mode for servo-driving the optical system 104 in accordance with the manipulated variables of the servo-operation means 111 and 109 and the manual mode for manually driving the optical system in accordance with the control of the manual operation means 110, the device is provided with a control means for switching the servo mode to the manual mode in accordance with the situation that the manual operation means is actuated in the middle of the servo mode setting period, and under the control of the control means, after the mode is switching to the manual mode, the manual mode is released on the condition that the servo operation means is made in a neutral state, and then, the servo mode is made to return.
