PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system and a communication unit that can quickly reserve a required band, in the case of conducting isochronous communication, based on communication standards, such as the IEEE1394. SOLUTION: When the reservation of a band could not be made, a DV camera 6 which is a communication unit establishes a broadcast connection to stop broadcast communication conducted by other communication unit (S111), thereby releasing the band. This processing is repetitively executed repeatedly, until the band required by the DV camera 6 can be secured (S113).
