<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel guidance system as a modification of conventional ones wherein a small target (small RCS) is hardly detected and followed because a reflected wave from the target is latent due to cluttering component. SOLUTION: The guidance system has a polarized wave antenna adaptable to four patterns of polarized wave characteristics with respect to transmission and reception, i.e., (a) horizontal transmission, (b) horizontal reception, horizontal transmission, vertical reception, and vertical transmission, (c) horizontal reception and vertical transmission, and (d) vertical reception. Through a polarized wave treatment process, only a latent component as to the target, is extracted from the data provided by the above antenna as that accompanying cluttering component, so that the target is detected and followed, allowing a projectile equipped with this guidance system to be guided to the target.</p> |
