PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a draw of the torque or racing in an automatic transmission making shifting with re-setting of a frictional engagement element by enhancing the controlling accuracy of oil pressure. SOLUTION: The indication pressures corresponding to the requisite torque capacities on the release side and engagement side are changed by a filter having such a characteristic as (s2+2ζrealωreals+ωreal2)/(s2+2ζtgtωtgts+ωtgt2)×(ω2tgt/ω2real), whereζreal is the damping factor,ζtgt is its target value,ωreal is the natural frequency, andωtgt is the target value of natural frequency, while the damping factorζreal and the natural frequencyωreal are changed in accordance with the oil temperature, and also in precharging, are changed according to the oil temperature and the elapsed time (t) from the start of precharging.
