PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device whose operability is improved by starting registra tion control in accordance with the existence/absence of registered information made to correspond to an abbreviation key to realize a simple registering opera tion about an abbreviation designating device mounted on communication equip ment etc. SOLUTION: This abbreviation designating device is mounted on the communication equipment 10, registers a destination in a parameter memory 22 while making the destination correspond to a one-operation key disposed in an operation displaying part 14 and designates the destination registered in the one- operation key as the opposite party to be called when any of one-operation keys is pressed down. When a destination is not registered in the pressed one- operation key, a CPU 11 starts registration control of the destination in the one-operation key without undergoing the operation of a function key etc.
