OPENING/CLOSING FLAP VALVE

PURPOSE: An opening/closing flap valve is provided to allow the valve to be manufactured in a small space at a low cost by forming a specified opening cross-sectional area without depending upon a temperature. CONSTITUTION: An opening/closing flap valve includes at least one valve plate(2a,2b) disposed for pivoting about a longitudinal axis in a housing part(1) for opening or closing a valve opening provided in the housing part in which bridge elements(4a,4b) are formed on the upper side of the valve plate aligned parallel to the longitudinal axis of the valve plate. The surface of the bridge element is inclined toward an adjacent housing wall or toward the second bridge element(4b) and forms a hollow channel with the housing wall or with the second bridge element. The free longitudinal edge of the bridge element is held in bolts(7,8) to maintain the valve plate in the closed position. In the housing part at least one opening communicating with one end of the hollow channel is provided, which also is in communication with a pressure generator whose actuation introduces pressure into the hollow channel and elastically deforms the bridge elements to release the bridge elements from the holders or bolts so that the valve plate pivots to the open position.
