PURPOSE: A retractor operating device for a seat belt is provided to control the restraining force of the retractor on the basis of the impact force applied to a vehicle and a tension of a seat belt for improving the stability of the seat belt. CONSTITUTION: A retractor operating device for a seat belt includes an impact sensor(31) for sensing an impact force of a vehicle, a tension detecting element(40) for sensing a tension of a seat belt(10), and a control part(30) for driving a retractor according to input signals from the impact sensor and the tension detecting element, wherein the tension detecting element includes mounting grooves perforated at both sides of a tongue plate(20) toward seat belt contact surfaces, a conductive push button movably mounted in the mounting grooves by the tension of the seat belt, a spring for pressing the push button toward the seat belt, and resistors mounted to the mounting grooves and contacting both side ends of the push button, which moves by the seat belt tension, for outputting a change of a variable resistance value according to the movement of the push button to the control part via a circuit arrangement.
