PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a map in a short time without loading burden to a processing system without damaging display characteristics even when a scale is changed. SOLUTION: When displaying map information, a range request from a user is inputted to a map image data generating program. Then, data within a requested range are acquired from a map data base, an image is generated corresponding to a display size, and image data are outputted. The outputted image data are displayed on a display means or the like as a map image. Concerning this system, vector data (numerical data) are used as data to be held in the map data base, image information based on raster data is generated by expanding these data on a memory inside the system, and this image information is outputted. Thus, a seamless image can be provided without caring of the joint of the map, a high quality image can be provided without deteriorating the picture image by the change (magnification/reduction) of the display scale, a data size is reduced and burden to the processing system can be reduced. |
