PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record data written by a writing member when recognized as a writing object in a medium in real time. SOLUTION: An object touched with a writing plane is extracted from an image obtained by photographing a writing area 32 by two right and left camera parts 3, 2 and the shape of the object is recognized to check whether the object is a writing object or not. When the object is a writing object, the contact coordinates of the object on the plane are calculated based on the positions of object images on the cameras 3, 2, the coordinate string (writing data) of contact positions obtained from the touch of the object with the plane up to its separation is recorded in the medium and a written character is displayed on an LCD 22.
