摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively utilize the frequency band of an ATM network, while the frame and time slot structure on a communication channel is made restorable, when a communication channel by a non-ATM network is relayed with a virtual communication channel by a VP/VC of the ATM network. SOLUTION: When a B channel of 64 kbit/s is used as an object of relay and significant data adopt a band of 8 kbit/s, 1-bit denoting significant data is extracted from a time slot (TS0 and TS1) of the B channel used to send each set of 8 bits included in an ISDN layer 1 frame, the 1-bit data extracted from each time slot are linked in the order of the time slots and frames to generate user area information. Then the user area information is set sequentially, to remaining 47 or 46 octets of a payload each transmitted ATM cell except a sequence number 1 octet and pointer 1 octet by each 8 ATM cells.</p>
