PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to set the handset of an interphone device in either the left or right side of the interphone device in accordance with the dominant arm of a user and the structure in the house where the interphone is installed. SOLUTION: When a handset unit is desired to be attached to the left side of a device main body 1, a mounting base right connector 8 of a handset placing plate 6 is connected to the device main body left connector 2 of the body 1. When the handset unit is also desired to be attached to the right side of the body 1, the mounting base left connector 7 of the base 6 is connected to the device main body right connector 3 of the body 1. Because the connector 8 is inserted into the connector 2 in a jack-in form, the base 6 is strongly stuck to the left side of the body 1 with slackness. The same is true of the installation of the handset to the right side. Because a cable 9 coming out of the end part of the handset 5 is connected to a cable connector 4 at the central part of the side face of the lower part of the body 1, there is no possibility that the wiring balance of the cable is worsened even though the handset unit is moved to the left or right side of the body 1.
