PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce or prevent peeling off of expanded graphite particles during braiding, thereby improving pressure proof of gland packing. SOLUTION: An expanded graphite tape 2 having a predetermined width is folded in ward in a longitudinal direction, and both ends 2a and 2b in a cross direction of the expanded graphite tape 2 are folded to turn inward in the cross direction, and is covered with a reinforcing material 3 consisting of stainless steel wire knitting body.
