PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To take out performance possessed by an indoor heat exchanger upon cooling operation in an air conditioner to the utmost. SOLUTION: Opening of an expansion valve EV is reduced until piping temperature becomes higher than lowest piping temperature, whereby there is estimated an opening of the expansion valve EV where the piping temperature is lowest. The estimated opening is set to be an opening of the expansion valve EV thereafter, whereby evaporation temperature of a refrigerant in the indoor heat exchanger 7 is lowest and the situation substantially approaches the state overheating = 0 at an outlet of the indoor heat exchanger 7. Thus, control being substantially an ideal state is realized that performance possessed by the heat exchanger can be demonstrated to the maximum.
