PURPOSE: A high voltage pumping apparatus is provided to minimize a current used in a high voltage generator by using a standby level detector and an active level detector according to a high voltage level detected as to a reference voltage. CONSTITUTION: According to the high voltage pumping apparatus, a Vpp level is detected instead of a rasidle signal ,and also the apparatus operates according to the Vpp level. In a standby state, there is little Vpp consumption and thus Vpp level is dropped less than a target level. On the contrary, because there is much Vpp consumption in an active state, the Vpp level is dropped more than the target level. Thus, there is a difference between the Vpp voltages sensed by the level detector of Vpp in a standby mode and the level detector of Vpp in an active mode. Only standby Vpp level detector is operated until the Vpp level is decreased below a level to operate the Vpp level detector in the active mode. The first high voltage detector(100) is a high voltage detector in the active mode, and the second high voltage detector(200) is a high voltage detector in the standby mode.
