PURPOSE: A device and a method for inputting Hangul of an X window system are provided to support a standard library and an XIM(X input method) defined in an X window system environment. CONSTITUTION: A Hangul input device(100) receives an event through a transport(110a) of a protocol in case that the event is generated from a determined key operation, and performs a program initialization work. A processing unit(120) receives a request for the event. An input device(130) receives the request from the processing unit(120). A language module unit(150) performs a composition and a conversion of the event generated from the key input according to an operation of the input device(130). A style unit(140) displays a determined language composed and converted from the language module unit(150), and outputs the language through a transformer(110b) of the protocol(110). The style unit(140) includes a character composition domain unit(140a), a state domain unit(140b), a special character input unit(140c) and a conversion unit(140d). The language module unit(150) is equipped with a character composition unit(150a), a language conversion unit(150b) and the special character unit(140c).
