PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the quality of a read picture. SOLUTION: In a light quantity detection member 11, a circuit board 17 is provided inside a casing 16. On the board 17, a bare chip CCD 18 is mounted and a transparent plate 19 is installed to be sealed airtight with the circuit 17 and a housing to form a sealed space 20. A plate 19 is arranged at the slit 26 of the casing 16 for it. Airtight sealing is attained by arranging a sealing member to this slit 26 in an attachable and detachable manner. A casing 22 for fitting a lens having an optical lens 21 is fixed to a base plate 23. Then, the casing 22 is installed on the member 11 to form the image of reflected light from an original 24 on the CCD 18 via the lens 21 and through the slit 26.
