PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly rotate a rotor itself as an output shaft and to make reaction difficult to be applied to the root of a movable blade for a peripheral edge of the rotor. SOLUTION: This rotary engine comprises a housing 3 constituted of a first circle 2a and second and third circles 2b, 2c of the same dimension having center points arranged oppositely at equal intervals with a center point of the first circle 2a as a center, having smaller radii than that of the first circle 2a and projecting from the circumference of the first circle 2a and provided with a composite circular shaped inner peripheral surface 2 with each intersection part of each circle formed by a relaxation curve, a circular rotor 4 which is rotably fitted into a first circle of the housing 3 and has an axial center concentric with the center point of the first circle 2a and four movable blades 5 which are inserted at equal intervals at a peripheral edge of the rotor 4 and are in press-contact with the inner peripheral surface 2 of the housing 3. In the rotor 4, each gas flow groove 4c for compressing fuel gas and allowing fuel gas to flow is formed at a peripheral edge between each movable blade 5 and the movable blades 5 inserted into the rotor 4 are arranged perpendicularly to a tangential line for the second circle 2b and so as to pass the center point of the second circle 2b.
