PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium to be used together with a contact method type magnetic head. SOLUTION: In the magnetic recording medium produced by successively laminating at least a nonmagnetic base layer, magnetic layer, carbon protective layer and liquid lubricant layer on a nonmagnetic substrate, the liquid lubricant layer has a two-layer structure of an upper layer and a lower layer.
