PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element of which problems of occurrence of failure and short life of the conventional organic EL element are resolved and of which productivity is improved and cost is low. SOLUTION: A polymer electroluminescent element comprises transparent or translucent conductive layer 2, a polymer luminescent layer 3 and a negative electrode layer 5, formed in layers in order on top of a board and the negative electrode layer is made of a metal foil of a thickness of more than 1μm.
